By definition, an allergy is an increased sensitivity to a foreign substance (called an allergen) which causes the body’s defense system (immune system).
There are several different pollens:
- They are not all present in the same period.
- They are rampant in different places and regions of France.
- They do not cause the same degree of allergenic risk.
Normally, the immune system responds only if a deleterious substance (such as bacteria) attack the body. For people with allergies, their immune system is working very intensively on the simple reaction of relatively harmless substances such as pollen when present. The severity of an allergic reaction can vary greatly from one individual to another : from mild discomfort to complications of the very heavy daily life.
Namely : Allergens can stimulate an immune response when you breathe and / or touch the allergen, also by ingestion of food or drink, injections of drugs or through insect bites (in other if allergies).
